Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
We never know when disaster will strike. The latest research indicates that a magnitude 8 to 9 Cascadia earthquake strikes just off our coastline every 240 years. We also could face any number of natural disasters from landslides to wildfires and power outages due to storms.
CERT members can help their families and their neighbors because they are trained in disaster medical operations, basic first aid, CPR, light search and rescue, fighting small fires, and supporting the Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District with traffic control, firefighter rehabilitation and response to terrorism incidents.
As a volunteer you will receive monthly training, engage in various drill exercises and learn how to be resilient. Through training, ordinary citizens can help our community be prepared for any disaster. Please see our CERT application which is the application of the Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District (NRFPD). We abide by the policies and procedures of the NRFPD and when activated, we are covered under their liability.
